Vul. Valova, 9 – residential building ID: 991
Residential building (1909–1911), located in the perimeter development of the street. Built according to the design of architects Alfred Zacharjewicz and Józef Sosnowski. The sculptures on the main facade, representing allegories of art and crafts, were made by sculptor Zygmunt Kurczyński.
Architecture
Built in the Art Nouveau style. Five-story, brick, with reinforced concrete elements, plastered. The first floor is designed as a commercial space. The second floor is emphasized by horizontal linear rustication. The third and fourth floors are divided vertically by stylized pilasters of the Ionic order, decorated with molded garlands and flutes. Under the windows of the fourth floor, there are molded inserts decorated with garlands. Between the windows of the fifth floor are sculptural high reliefs by Zygmunt Kurczyński. The building is topped with a broken gable and covered with a mansard roof with dormer windows.
The building is a typical example of early 20th-century residential architecture with distinctive Art Nouveau features.
